Sheena Robson: TWN Post Laminitic

TWN (Welsh for Tom) Welsh Cob Section D

April 2006 - Petplan National Champion Prelim Level at Solihull

Nov 2006 - Suffered an extremely severe bout of laminitis.

Feb. 2007 - Fitted with Steel Heart-bar shoes, put into careful work. Refused to trot        except on a soft surface.

Apr. 2007 - Unable to carry the weight of the metal heart bars he showed signs of tendon wear, the decision was made to go barefoot.

In work for 2 years but compromised by foot tenderness on any rough surface and careful movement.

2009 - Fitted with Equi-Eaze shoe as a guinea pig for their development. Instant difference in forward movement and confidence . I could proceed with training under any conditions.

2012 - TWN is now age 15 and competing at medium level but training for advanced medium. Without the support and the concussion limiting properties of the Equi-eaze shoes the prognosis for TWM would have been very different and may well have left the horse with discomfort in his feet for the rest of a very limited life.

Audrey: Bronson - Arthritic

Bronson, my heavy-weight cob, has had Equi-Eaze shoes fitted for a number of years and I am really pleased with them.

They were first used on his front feet because I do a lot of road hacking and was worried about his action and concussion. He seemed happier and more forward going with the new shoes and stopped trying to go onto the verge in trot, like he had with metal shoes. The improvement was gradual, but I really noticed the difference when he had a set of metal shoes fitted again after using the Equi-Eaze shoes for a while. The first time back on the road, he was very reluctant to trot on and was obviously feeling his feet much more.

Over the last couple of years, Bronson has developed stiffness in his hocks from old age and arthritis (he is nearly 21). I now have these shoes fitted on his back feet as well and I really feel they have helped him to continue to enjoy hacking out. As well as reducing concussion from the road, they also last very well and each set has been removed and refitted more times than his metal shoes used to be. I won't be trying to go back to metal shoes again.

Karen Reed: Monty - Laminitis

Monty is a 12.2hh, 19 year old gelding used as a games pony and in his later years in a riding school and had been retired.

Monty developed laminitis in 2008 and in January 2012 had a severe attack and euthanasia was considered as an option. He was fitted with Equi-Eaze shoes and was immediately more comfortable. By June, he was in full time use by a disabled boy who has taken him show jumping , beach rides and long distance rides in a local forest. He continues to be ridden without any signs of lameness since having these shoes fitted. His owner also noticed that he does not trip like he used to.

Tom Carr: Tiger - Broken Horse Feet

Tiger is one of my horses that is ridden regularly. As you will see from the pictures, he has two extremely odd feet; one upright, boxy foot and one very long, flat foot. This makes him very difficult to shoe and often results in lameness after being shod or during work.

Equi-Eaze plastic shoes have made a huge difference to Tiger - to view more details on his progress, please click the link below.
